What is Intelligent Energy? Am I driving into the future with a quiet environmentally friendly e-car? Can I really change something? These questions will be followed up in our panel discussions:

„Intelligent Energy – good for climate and wallet?“
Saturday, 18. July 2009, 20:00 – 21:30

„Intelligent Energy“ describes the potential of renewable energies as well as energy conscious lifestyle. Renewable Energies had a contingent of 14.2 % out of the whole power consumption in Germany, and by this a saving of about 114 bn tons CO2 compared to conventional power generation. Even a power supply totally out of renewables would be possible - say some and dispute the others.

What are the barriers for a clean energy supply and what will it cost? What are my possibilities to stop threatening climate change and keep our planet liveable for future generations? How can I influence political decisions for directing into the future?

This questions will be discussed by:

Wolfgang Gründinger (AG "Energie der Zukunft" of the Think Tank 30 (tt30), foundation for the rights for future generations, youth committee of the federal environment ministry, alliance of an energy self-sufficient East-Bavaria (BEO), author) - „Environment and climate conservation are the top-topics of today's youth - even before the economic crisis and terrorism.“
Hermann Scheer (president of EUROSOLAR, chairperson of the world counsellor for renewable energies, chairperson of the international governmental-fora renewable energy, member of the German federal parliament) - „The basic question of the whole world economy and civil development is how we can change from non-renewable to renewable resources.“
Thomas Prudlo (GF Green City Energy / combatant of the ÖDP and of a lot of different environmental organisations) „It's not just about the good for our climate and our wallet, but about a survival economy which consequences we try not to realize."
Prof. Dr. Hubert Weiger (National chairperson BUND) - „Till 2020 renewable energies can totally replace all capacities of nuclear power plants that will have to be switched of.“
Sonja Meister (leader of the climate programme of Friends of the Earth Europe) - „We need a global and fair solution for the climate crisis and we have to make sure that Europe delivers its part with Intelligent Energy.“
Hans-Josef Fell (member of the German federal government, speaker for energy and technology of the Bundesfraktion Bündnis 90/DIE GRÜNEN) - „The total renunciation of the fossil and nuclear energy sources and a switch to renewable energies is necessary. My slogan: climate protection through 100 % renewable energies.”

„Refuelling at the receptacle - where is the car industry navigating to?“
Sunday, 19. July 2009, 12:30 – 14:00

About one million electric cars should be on our streets till 2020 and by this making Germany to the leading market for e-mobility. The vision is tempting: Electric cars don't emit CO2, are quiet and show that their owners are on the pulse of our time. But as nice as we imagine this nowadays in the middle of climate discussions - still a lot of questions are unclear:

Is e.g. nuclear power the drive for our modern locomotion? How far can we go with electric cars, how and where can I 'refuelling' my car? Do the cooperations between car and electricity companies end in the creation of new tycoons? And actually is the car really a transportation model with future?

Exciting questions for which we are searching for responses together with:

Martin Schreiner (KVR, Mobility management) – "Even when we drive electric cars in future, don't we need the same space and habitat like the conventional fuel driven cars. We need high mobility with fewer cars and no fig leaves relieving our conscience."
Tomi Engel (DGS) – "The future drives electric and with 100 % renewable energies - or not at all."
Toni Hofreiter (MdB) – "We need to support public transport, because individual mobility with cars includes much more problems. Mobility has to be for everybody and not just for privileged people who can afford a car."
Werner Reh (BUND, transport expert) „Nobody of the German producers has made his/her fuel-saving duties - in contrast with some foreign manufacturers like Renault and Fiat.“
Andreas Klugescheid (BMW Group - political speaker) - „Already in the first half of the next century the first megacity vehicles with pure electric drive or an extremely efficient combustion engine will be available on the market.“

„The fight for our future – the new environment movement“
Sunday, 19. July 2009, 16:00 – 17:30

From muesli and Birkenstock fan to trendsetter and lifestyle-outrider: The high gloss lifestyle has overtaken the environmental activists. At the same time people don't want to be bond at associations. This is felt by big environmental organisations.

What does this mean for the modern environment movement? What kind of concepts for the fight for our future are still accepted? Is it necessary to fight or is it sufficient to become individual environment hedonists?

Silvia Gonzalez (Green City) "There are thousands of reasons for living ecological - YOU are the new environmental movement!"
Milo Tesselaar (Biorama) „For me sustainability means to get active, to do or demonstrate something and not to wait till the others act.“
Martin Geilhufe (JBN Landesvorstand/ BN- Landesvorstand/ YfoEE) „The environment movement has to be much more extreme and connected.“
Don Caramelo (Raggabund, Les Babacools): „Everyone can and has to get active by him/herself. Just moaning about these circumstances doesn't help."
Sara Ann Lampmann (Robin Wood, publicist) „For many not driving with the car is limiting their quality of life, for me it is the total opposite.“
Florian Braunreuther (Umweltinstitut München e.V., consultant for energy and climate protection) "Also the modern environment movement needs a long breath. With single events nothing is won."
